1896 Wild Flowers Worth Notice For Their Beauty, Uses and Associations by Mrs Lankester / 104 Flowers in 18 Colour Plates / Good Condition
A lovely Victorian book here. "Wild Flowers Worth Notice A Selection of Some of Our Native Plants Which Are Most Attractive From Their Beauty, Uses or Associations by Mrs Lankester" (the British botanist, Phoebe Lankester, (1825 - 1900). Undated but published in 1896 by James Shiells & Co., London. With 18 colour plates depicting 104 different wild flowers (see photos). In good condition.
Inside the pages are good being clean bright. Cracks open at the hinge near the beginning, but in no way effecting the binding of the text block which is good and strong. Has a name at the top of the half-title page. All of the 18 colour plates are present and in good condition. One plate has a nick to the fore-edge. The top edge has toning. Well indexed.
Olive-green cloth covered boards have ornate brown and gilt decoration to the front and spine. In top order, with a little rubbing to the corners and spine ends and one small mark on the back next to the spine. Otherwise bright decoration and gilt.
A delightful copy. Your antique copy of Wild Flowers Worth Notice will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to include a gift card and message in the parcel.
