In very good condition, here is a charming antique copy of The Comedies of Oliver Goldsmith. Published in 1896 by George Allen, London. Richly illustrated and decorated throughout with the beautiful artwork of Chris Hammond (see photos) and in extremely eye-catching green boards with ornate gilt decoration. The best condition copy I have seen to date, with just some spotting to the pages being the only condition point to note.

Contains She Stoops To Conquer and The Good-Natured Man.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing or markings of previous ownership. Has some spotting to the endpapers and page edges and then just sporadically in the text. Gilt on all three sides, and this has remained in super, shiny condition.

Dark green cloth covered boards have beautiful ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine. In the same design as the Peacock Pride and Prejudice and two other Jane Austen titles, Sense and Sensibility and Emma. Similar in design to the "Cranford" series of green and gold decorated titles published by Macmillan. With just some very slight rubbing to the cloth at the corner tips and some mild shelf wear to the back board, but minor. The gilt is shiny bright and this is a dazzling book.
