1896 Handbook to the British Mammalia by Richard Lydekker / 32 Excellent Colour Plates / Good Condition / Edward Lloyd Ltd, London

In good condition and superbly illustrated, here is an antique copy of A Handbook to the British Mammalia by Richard Lydekker. Published in 1896 by Edward Lloyd, London as part of their Lloyd's Natural History series. With thirty-two superb colour plates. 

Covering a multitude of animals. Amongst them: bats; shrews; wild cats; wolves; foxes; stoats; martens; polecats; weasels; squirrels; badgers; otters; seals; mice; voles; hares; rabbits; oxen; deer; pigs.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With an inked name at the top of the front free endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. With some toning along the closed top edge, and spotting to the other two sides. Occasional scattered spotting in the text. Spotting also to the frontispiece tissue-guard. All of the colour plates are present as called for (see photos). The frontispiece tissue guard has some small holes along the outside edge where it looks as if something has been stapled to it in the past. otherwise very good. 

In dark red cloth covered boards. Clean and smart, with one small light mark on the back. The red on the spine has faded in comparison to the front and back. With just a little rubbing to the corners and spine ends.
