1888 Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tales: Illustrated Antique Book

An absolutely beautiful antique edition of Andersen's Fairy Tales. Published in 1888 by Frederick Warne & Co., London. With an illustrated frontispiece, and six further black and white illustrations (see photos). In fantastic condition.

Extremely comprehensive containing one hundred and twenty-eight tales including The Snow Queen; The Ice Maiden; The Tinder Box and The Little Mermaid amongst them.

Inside in super order, the pages being clean, bright and tightly bound. No writing or markings of previous ownership. Smart and square.

In extremely striking green cloth over boards with gilt and black decoration to the front and spine, and blind-stamping to the rear. Bevelled edges. Again all in absolutely superb order. Just some very slight rubbing to the green in a few places. Gilt is sparkly bright. Looks as it would have done when published nearly 140 years ago. An extremely striking, eye-catching book.
