In excellent condition, here is an absolutely beautiful antique copy of Summer Time in the Country by Rev Willmott. Published in 1880 by George Routledge and sons, London. With a gorgeous full decorative cloth binding, forty-four engraved illustrations, illustrated frontispiece and shiny gilt edged pages.

A poetic and reflective journal that captures the essence of rural life and the natural world during the summer months. Themes include the harmony between humanity and nature. The seasonal cycles and their emotional resonance and observations on flora, fauna and country customs. I would imagine this would have been a great balm to a Victorian to peruse during the long, dark cold winter months.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or inscriptions. The gilt has remained sparkly bright on all sides.

Beautiful dark green cloth over boards have shiny gilt decoration to the front and spine, and leaf pattern to the back. Again all in top order, sparkly gilt. Has just some slight rubbing to the corners and spine ends/joints - but minor.
