Vintage Jane Austen Box Set of Complete Novels in 5 Volumes / Excellent Condition / Red Faux Leather & Gilt / Pride and Prejudice, Emma etc.

Here is a vintage set of Jane Austen's six completed novels in five volumes published by Collins of London in 1973. (Northanger Abbey and Persuasion are published together in one volume). In the original slipcase box and in excellent condition. It is extremely hard to find this set still in the original box and in such good condition.

Contains: Sense and Sensibility; Pride and Prejudice; Mansfield Park; Emma; Northanger Abbey and Persuasion.

The volumes are bound in dark red faux leather boards with intricate gilt decoration. The boards and decoration have all remained in super condition. With just some slight wear at the tops of a couple of spines (see close-up photo).

All of the books are also in excellent condition. Each book has bright, clean pages. Each volume begins with a short Biography, an Introduction and ends with a short Bibliography of books by and about Austen. The top edges are tinted orange/red, and these all match uniformly well. The only minor condition point to note with contents is some slight scuffing to the decorative endpapers of Pride and Prejudice (see photos).

The slipcase box depicts a BBC adaptation of Emma starring Timothy Peters and Debbie Bowen. The box itself is also in exceptionally good condition for a vintage box of this age. It has no real condition points to note apart from some very slight shelf wear scuffs - but minor. Being clean, unfaded and sturdy it should continue to protect the books for many more years to come.
