In excellent condition, here is an antique hardback copy of The Call of Honour - A Tale of Adventure in the Canadian Prairies by Argyll Saxby. Undated, but would have been published in 1910 by SW Partridge & Co., London. With six black and white plates and in a striking decorative binding. More details below.
Set against the backdrop of Western Canada during the early 20th-century prairie boom, the novel follows classic themes of frontier survival, honour and duty. An adventure novel in the style of Henty or Ballantyne.
Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Has a prize bookplate dated 1911 on the front free endpaper, but no other inscriptions or markings of previous ownership. All six black and white plates by Ernest Prate are present as called for. A little toning along the closed top edge.
Muted-teal/petrol blue cloth over boards have a dramatic illustration to the front, and Art Nouveau decoration to the spine. All in top order. Just some slight pushing to the cloth at the spine head. Colours and gilt remain super and bright. Looking extremely eye-catching on display.
Your antique copy of The Call of Honour will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
