Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift (1894) - Illustrated Antique Book

A superb antique copy of Travels Into Several Remote Nations of the World by Lemuel Gulliver. Published in 1894 by Macmillan and Co., London in their green and gold Cranford series. With over one hundred line-drawn illustrations by Charles E Brock, plus five maps. Without a doubt, in my opinion, the best illustrations for any edition of Gulliver's Travels that I have seen. A lovely edition, with some condition points to note, detailed below.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Has spotting scattered throughout the text and the odd faint dark mark. Cracked paper to the front hinge. With a charming inked-inscription to the verso front free endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Has developed a slight lean. All edges are shiny gilt.

Dark-green cloth backed boards have a fantastic reproduction of one of Brock's illustrations in gilt on the front, plus motifs from the book on the spine. A couple of slight creases to the cloth on the front, and very light marks to back - but minor. Rubbing and rounding to the cloth on the corners to reveal boards at the tips, and to the spine ends where there are a few tiny splits to the cloth. The gilt on the front and spine having dulled a bit in comparison with the page edges - but remaining a super version.

Your antique copy of Gulliver's Travels will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to include a gift card with a message in the parcel.
