In very good condition, here is a lovely antique copy of The Story of the Weathercock by Evelyn Sharp. Richly illustrated by Charles Robinson. Undated but would have been published around 1907 by Blackie & Son, London. Condition in detail below.

A whimsical, episodic Edwardian fairy‑tale in which a village weathercock becomes the lens through which a series of magical adventures unfold. It blends everyday rural life with fairies, talking animals, and gentle moral play. The narrative is not a single linear plot, but a cycle of interconnected tales, each featuring the Weathercock, a Baby, Elspeth, the Idle Boy, and a host of fairies and talking creatures.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Mild spotting to endpapers, and scattered sporadically through the text. The very occasional faint handling mark, and one small closed tear to the bottom edge of one leaf, (nowhere near the text). Has an inked inscription to the illustrated front paste down, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All edges are gilt. The book has become mildly bowed over time. Gapes at the gutter in a couple of places but the binding remains tight and strong. With a large number of colour plates, line drawings and decorations.

Deep red cloth over boards have ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine. Again in very good order. Mild rubbing to corners and spine ends. The red on the spine has faded very slightly in comparison to the front and back. The back cloth has a couple of pencil lines and two white marks.

Your antique copy of The Story of the Weathercock will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to include a gift card with a message in the parcel.
