c1907 Little Women by Louisa May Alcott - Antique Book

Needs a little bit of explaining this one. A gorgeous antique hardback copy of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Published by The Walter Scott Publishing Co., Ltd. London. Undated, but with an inked inscription on the front free endpaper from December 1907. A really eye-catching copy due to the fading of the original blue cloth, leaving the striking ornate decoration to really stand out. I love the mottled colour effect that age has created here - it's a unique and beautiful copy. Condition in detail below.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound, with mild scattered spotting. Has some rubbing to the paper on the front paste down in several places. With the above-mentioned inscription to the tanned front free endpaper. Has six black and white illustrated plates. All edges are shiny gilt.

The cloth was originally a grey-blue (as can be seen to the spine and around the edges). The colour has faded away on the front and back to leave this wonderful effect. Has a couple of light stain marks near the bottom and one near the top of the front board. A little rubbing/nicks in places around the edges and to corners - but minor. The gilt titles are shiny bright. Looking splendid on display.
