Here is a highly amusing vintage cookbook - The Reluctant Cook by Ethelind Fearon. Being a first edition, published in 1953 by Herbert Jenkins, London. Charmingly written in a witty manner and with classic 1950s humorous illustrations.

Aimed at those who are new to cooking or feel a bit apprehensive about it. The book provides simple, easy-to-follow recipes and practical advice to help even the most reluctant cook gain confidence in the kitchen. Fearon's approach is friendly and encouraging, making cooking seem less daunting and more enjoyable. The book includes a variety of recipes, from basic meals to more elaborate dishes, all designed to be accessible to beginners.

Inside this copy the pages are clean and tightly bound. Has a good deal of spotting to the closed outside edges (see photos), and occasionally in the text. With illustrated endpapers. The top of the front free endpaper has been price-clipped (see photos). Has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership.

In the original clipped dust wrapper. This has some light tanning and spotting, with a brown blemish on the back near the bottom. Otherwise very smart.
