A lovely looking vintage edition of Lewis Carroll's "Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There" published in 1952 by Macmillan and Co Ltd., London. This edition benefits in particular from having fifty of the famous, original illustrations by John Tenniel (see photos). Also contains a list of Dramatis Personae and a reproduction of the chess game with board and moves. This copy still has the original dust jacket (see photo 2). The book is in very good condition, with some wear to the jacket which has now been protected by an archival removable plastic sleeve.

The second of Alice's Adventures, first published in 1871. Set some six months later than the earlier book, Alice again enters a fantastical world, this time by climbing through a mirror into the world that she can see beyond it. Includes such celebrated verses as "Jabberwocky" and "The Walrus and the Carpenter", and the episode involving Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With just some tanning to the endpapers and a few folded corner tips. Has an inked inscription at the top of the front free endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership.

With bright un-faded green cloth covered boards with a red and black illustration of Alice reaching up to Humpty Dumpty. All in top order having been well protected by the wrapper.

The white dust jacket has red decoration and titles. With some chipping and small loss at the corners and spine ends, and some splits along the joints with the flaps. The red on the spine has faded over time and there are a couple of small faint brown spots. The jacket has now been protected for the future by the addition of an archival removable plastic sleeve.

Your vintage copy of Through The Looking Glass and What Alice Found There will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with message to the parcel.
