1948 The Caterpillars of the Moths / Frederick Warne & Co, Ltd / Numerous Illustrations in Colour and BW / Scarce Dust Jackets

In very good condition, and in the scarce dust wrappers here is a lovely vintage copy of The Caterpillars of the British Moths complete in two volumes. Published in 1948 by Frederick Warne & Co., Ltd of London and being a first edition. Volume I has 702 illustrations of which 251 are in colour. Volume II has 786 illustrations of which 190 are in colour.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. The outside edges are speckled blue as published and these have some tanning/spotting. Has an inked name on the front free endpaper of each volume dated 1948. 

Bound in petrol blue faux leather boards. In excellent condition, having been well protected by the jackets.

The dust wrappers are also in top order - clean and smart. With just some very slight edge wear creasing and the odd nick and mark, but minor. The front illustrated paste down of Volume II has a chip across the top left corner with a little loss (see photo 2).
