A wonderfully illustrated, large and comprehensive antique book. Fabre's Book of Insects Re-Told From a Translation of Souvenirs Entomologiques by Mrs Rudolph Stawell. Published in 1936 by Tudor Publishing, New York. With twelve colour plates by Detmold. The book is in super condition, with just some thin scratches to the rear board being the only condition point to note.

Fabre's Book of Insects is a non-fiction book that talks about insects in real life, mythology and folklore.

Contents: The Sacred Beetle; The Cicada; The Praying Mantis; The Glow Worm; A Mason Wasp; The Psyches; The Self-Denial of the Spanish Copris; Two Strange Grasshoppers; Common Wasps; The Adventures of a Grub; The Cricket; The Sisyphus; The Capricorn; Locusts; The Anthrax Fly.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing or inscriptions. All twelve colour plates are present as called for. The top closed edge is tinted green.

Green cloth covered boards have gilt decoration to the front and spine. With some thin scratches to the rear board, otherwise top notch.
