A high quality edition of Mansfield Park by Jane Austen (being Volume III of The Oxford Illustrated Novels Series in V Volumes), published in 1934 by Oxford at the Clarendon Press. With many notes and illustrations. This is the complete novel in one volume. The contents are in good condition. With the original dust wrapper which is clean and smart, but has a couple of areas of loss.

This series is thought to be the most complete publication of Jane Austen's novels. Being so well regarded because it provides much more in addition to the text. There is an Introduction; many black and white illustrated plates and comprehensive notes at the end. In this volume these extras include: a copy of the play performed in the novel - Lovers' Vows; a Chronology of Mansfield Park; notes on Carriages and Travel; and an Index of Characters. This in addition to facsimiles of the original title pages.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With tanning and spotting along the closed top edge. Has a book plate on the front paste down, plus an inked inscription opposite on the front free endpaper.

The price-clipped dust wrapper is clean and smart. It has some tanning and fading to the spine, a small area of loss to the head of the spine, with a larger area of loss at the bottom (see photos). The scarce jacket has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable plastic sleeve.
