Here is a lovely vintage edition of Grimm's Fairy Stories. Undated but with an inscription from 1939 on the front free endpaper. Published by Ward, Lock and Co., Ltd of London. With 24 wonderful colour plates by Harry G Theaker.

Contents: The Drummer; The Frog Prince; Hansel and Gretel; The Fisherman and His Wife; The Brave Little Tailor; King Throstle-Beard; The Shoes That Were Danced Into Holes; Rumpelstiltskin; One Eye, Two Eyes, Three Eyes; The Golden Goose; The Boy Who Learnt to Shudder; The Wise Griffon; The Three Spinning-Women and The Twelve Brothers; The Bottled Spirit.

Inside the book opens onto the above-mentioned inscription, but with no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Has some spotting sporadically through the text. The main condition point to note with the pages is some nicks, creases and folds to the fore-edges (see photos). With tanning and spotting to the closed outside edges.

Bound in papered boards with a khaki-green cloth covered spine. Has some light bumping and a few chips around the outside edges and rubbing to the corners to reveal boards beneath at the tips. A little rubbing also to the spine ends - but minor. Otherwise a very bright and smart vintage copy. The colours having remained strong and un-faded.
