1914 Adam Bede by George Eliot / W&R Chambers, London / Beautiful Large-Format Antique Edition / Richly Illustrated in Colour and Line

Here is a beautiful, large-format antique edition of George Eliot's Adam Bede. Undated but would have been published in 1914 by W&R Chambers Ltd, London. A striking book, packed full with fifty-four illustrations, sixteen of which are full colour plates. This copy is well over 100 years old and has fared very well. With just a little bit of wear to the dark blue cloth being the only real condition point to note (detailed below). PLEASE SEE DIMENSIONS below of this large edition.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With just the very occasional handling mark. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership. All sixteen colour plates are present and in top order. The top closed edge is gilt, with a couple of faint marks to the fore-edge. 

Dark blue cloth covered boards have a front paste-down illustration and gilt decoration to the front and spine. With some rubbing to the cloth at the corners (to reveal boards beneath on the top front - see final close-up photo). Also with a little rubbing to the spine ends. The cloth on the spine has creased in places and the gilt has rubbed slightly. Has a few faint scuffs to the rear board.
