In good condition here is a lovely antique hardback copy of Indian Myth and Legend by Donald Mackenzie. Published by The Gresham Publishing Company Ltd in 1913. A richly illustrated, very attractive book.

Contents: Indra, King of the Gods; The Great Vedic Deities; Yama, The First Man and the King of the Dead; Demons and Giants and Fairies; Social and Religious Developments of the Vedic Age; Mysteries of Creation, The World's Ages and Soul Wandering; New Faiths, Vishnu Religion, Buddhism and Jainism; Divinities of the Epic Period; Prelude to the Great Bharata War; Royal Rivals The Pandavas and Kauravas; The Tournament; First Exile of the Pandavas; The Choice of Draupadi; Triumph of the Pandavas; The Great Gambling Match; Second Exile of the Pandavas; Defiance and Duryodhana; The Battle of Eighteen Days; Atonement and the Ascent to Heaven; Nala and Damayanti; Wanderings in the Forest; Nala in Exile; The Homecoming of the King; Story of Rama How Sita Was Won; The Rape of Sita; Rama's Mission Fulfilled.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Has a good deal of spotting throughout the text. No writing or other markings of previous ownership. With eight superb colour plates, plus many more in black and white. The top edge is gilt, with tanning and spotting to the other two sides. Has a small stain mark at the bottom of the front endpapers (see photos).

In extremely attractive olive-green illustrated cloth covered boards with ornate decoration to the front and spine, and gilt titles. Looking extremely eye-catching. With a little rubbing and fraying to the cloth on the corner tips. Has some faint marks at the top front, but these can only be seen by holding the book right up to the light. With a couple of brown blemishes on the back, and a small nick at the head of the spine. Otherwise decoration is bright and un-faded and the gilt shiny.
