1913 In a City Garden by JR Aitken / With Seven Charming Botanical Illustrations / Antique Book About the Royal Botanical Garden, Edinburgh

Here is an antique book of garden/nature writing concerning the Royal Botanical Garden in Edinburgh. In a City Garden looks at the four seasons in the Garden and is illustrated with seven delightful tipped-in botanical colour plates taken from watercolours. Being a first edition published in 1913 by TN Foulis, London and Edinburgh.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Has an inked inscription on an early blank endpaper dated 1923 (see photos), but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. The top edge is gilt, with the other two sides untrimmed. All of the colour plates are present with their tissue guards, and are in super condition.

In thick boards papered in lime green with gilt decoration to the front, and titles to the spine. With some fading across the top of the front board and to the spine. Has a brown stain mark on the front. With mild rubbing to the corners and a little creasing and chipping to the spine ends. The gilt has remained shiny bright.
