1913 Cranford by Mrs Gaskell - Illustrated Antique Book

In very good condition, here is a lovely antique copy of Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell. Published in 1913 by Seeley, Service & Co., London. With six colour plates by HM Brock, plus a couple in black and white. In an attractive cloth binding too. More details below.

Opens with a couple of inscriptions to the front free endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All pages are clean and tightly bound. The plates are all present as called for, and all in top order. The top closed edge is gilt, the fore-edge untrimmed.

Dark-blue cloth over boards have charming decoration to the front and spine in gilt, light-blue and red. Mild rubbing to the cloth on the corners to reveal boards beneath at the tips. A little rubbing to the cloth on the spine ends also, with a very small amount of fraying to the cloth to the head and tail. A thin scratch across the lower back panel (see photos). The decoration and gilt on the front and spine remain bright and this is an eye-catching edition.
