1911 Familiar Wild Birds by W Swaysland / Complete in Four Volumes / Cassell & Company, London / Good Condition / Filled With Colour Plates

Here is a lovely antique set of superbly illustrated bird books. Scarce to find complete in all four volumes. Familiar Wild Birds by W Swaysland, published by Cassell & Company of London in 1911. Richly illustrated with an excellent colour plate for each bird (see photos). 

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound, with a few folded corners. Has an inscription dated Jun 4th 1915 to the half-titles (see photos), but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. With light tanning and spotting to the closed outside edges. The books have developed a mild lean over time.

Dark blue cloth covered boards have Art Nouveau decoration to the fronts and spines, and gilt titles. With light rubbing to the corners and spine ends, and a couple of mildly bumped top corners. Otherwise clean, smart and un-faded with shiny bright gilt.
