1910s Decorative Historical Fiction Set in Two Volumes / Tales of a Grandfather (Scottish History) and Cressy & Poitiers (Black Prince)

In good condition, here are two lovely decorative novels in the same series. Sold together as a matching set of two. Comprising Tales of a Grandfather (Stories From Scottish History) by Sir Walter Scott, plus Cressy and Poitiers - The Story of the Black Prince's Page by JG Edgar. Undated but they would have been published in the the early 1910s by George Routledge & Sons, London.

Inside Cressy has a prize book plate on the front paste down dated 1911. With some scattered spotting and the occasional brown blemish. Has tanning and spotting also to the closed outside edges. Grandfather has tanned pages, and a partially cracked hinge at the front. With small type and a couple of small nicks to the fore-edge of the opening pages. Both have black and white frontispieces, else unillustrated.

Both with decorations to the fronts and spines, and gilt titles. Cressy has a faded area to the back board (see photos), with the loss of some of the red. Grandfather has some rubbing away of the decoration at the bottom of the front board. Both with a little rubbing to the corners, spine ends, and with a small split in the head of the cloth of Grandfather. The spine of Cressy has dulled a little in comparison to Grandfather. An eye-catching set.
