This is an absolutely beautiful antique book from 1908: The English Lakes published to the usual high standards to be expected of Adam & Charles Black of London. With 75 exquisite colour plates painted by A Heaton Cooper, each with their original tissue guard (see photos) and with a gorgeous Art Nouveau binding.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With tanning and spotting to endpapers, and then mild spotting through the text. Has an inked name at the top of the front free endpaper. All of the plates have their original tissue guard with the title of the painting and a short description. There are no cracked hinges and the binding is good and tight.

The grey-blue cloth covered boards have delightful decoration. This is all in top order. With some slight rubbing to the spine ends, and a couple of small splits to the top of the spine. Looks extremely eye-catching on display.
