1904 Northanger Abbey - Antique Jane Austen Book - Beautifully Illustrated

In very good condition, here is a scarce, and one of the most attractive, earlier editions of Jane Austen's works. An edition of Northanger Abbey which forms part of "The Novels of Jane Austen in Ten Volumes" series. Published by JM Dent and Co. of London in 1904. With six full colour delightful illustrations by the well-known water-colourists Charles and Henry Brock. The frontispiece has the original tissue guard and with elegant decorative endpapers.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or inscriptions. The book opens onto elaborately decorated endpapers which have a monogrammed "JA" motif. Has a colour frontispiece with bright clean tissue and an ornate title page. Has six beautiful colour plates by C and H Brock (see photos). These are some of the best illustrations in any Austen edition. They are all in good condition, having retained their bright colour. Gilt edged along the top with the other two sides untrimmed. The gilt on the top having rubbed a little.

The beautifully designed pale-green cloth over boards are also in very good order. With dark blue decoration to the front and spine, and with shiny bright gilt titles. The spine has tanned just a little and there are a few mild marks on the back - but minor.
