In excellent condition this is a stunning edition of The Book of Romance Edited by Andrew Lang. Being a first edition published in 1902 by Longmans, Green & Co., London. Richly illustrated in colour and line by HJ Ford. There is so much attention to detail that even the illustrated endpapers are different at the back from the front. With many stories of King Arthur and his Knights, Robin Hood and more.

Inside the pages are superb being clean, bright and tightly bound. Has an inked inscription from 1902 on the illustrated front paste down (see photos), but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All of the eight colour plates are present and in good condition, and the frontispiece still has the original bright, clean tissue guard attached. There are numerous other black and white plates and line drawings in the text. Gapes slightly at the gutter in a couple of places but the binding of the text block is very good and strong. Pages are gilt edged on all three sides and this has stayed shiny bright.

In blue cloth covered boards with ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine. All superb with just some rubbing to the corners and the spine ends, and a couple of small light marks - but all minor. The gilt decoration is shiny bright and this is a stunning book to display.
