A very attractive edition of two plays by Richard Brinsley Sheridan: The School For Scandal and The Rivals. Both are comedies of manners first performed in 1775 and 1777 respectively. This edition was first published in 1896 by Macmillan & Co., London and this copy is one of those first editions. Beautifully illustrated by Edmund J Sullivan (see photos). In very good condition, with some wear to the spine ends.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Shiny gilt edged on all sides. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership.

In dark green cloth over boards which are very attractively decorated on the front and spine. Mild rubbing to the cloth on the corner tips. The front board is in superb condition, with shiny bright gilt. The back board has some light dents and scuffs. The spine has some loss to the cloth at the head and tail (see close-up photos). Otherwise the decoration on the spine remains bright, and this is an eye-catching volume.

Your antique copy of The Rivals and The School For Scandal will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
