In excellent condition, here is a beautiful first edition thus copy of Mr Midshipman Easy by Captain Marryat. Published by Macmillan & Co., Limited London in 1896. With numerous illustrations by Fred Pegram and with striking Art Nouveau boards by Albert Angus Turbayne.

Looking extremely eye-catching on display.

One of Frederick Marryat’s most famous naval novels, blending satire, adventure, and social commentary. It follows the impulsive young Jack Easy, whose naïve belief in “the rights of man” collides with the harsh realities of naval life during the Napoleonic Wars.

Opens onto super yellow decorative endpapers in Turbayne's distinctive peacock style. With a neatly inked inscription on an early blank endpaper (see photos), but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Clean, bright and tightly bound. Shiny gilt on all sides.

In striking dark blue cloth over boards with ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine. Again in top order. The slightest of bumping to the rear fore-edge - but minor

Your antique copy of Mr Midshipman Easy will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged, tracked and insured. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
