Here is a first edition, two-volume antique set of The Collected Works of Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Published by Ellis and Elvey, London in 1890. With gorgeous gilt decorated boards.
Volume I: Poems, Prose Tales and Literary Papers
Volume II: Translations, Prose - Notices of Fine Art
Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Opens onto blue floral endpapers. Cracked rear hinges to reveal webbing, but in no way effecting the binding which is good and strong. Inked inscriptions to the half-title pages, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership.
In striking dark-green cloth over boards with the floral gilt decoration to the fronts, backs and spines. Some rubbing to the green cloth as opposed to the shiny, bright gilt. With a few scuffs also to the green. These show up better in the flat photos. Vol II has a couple of white marks on the back (see photos). Rubbing to cloth on the corner tips, and slight rounding to spine ends. A small split to the cloth on the front spine joint of Volume II. As mentioned the gilt on both remains extremely eye-catching.
Your two-volume Collected Works of Dante Gabriel Rossetti will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. A gift message can be included in the package if desired.
