1887 Fairy Tales and Sketches by Hans Christian Andersen / Antique Illustrated Leather Bound Book

An antique, hardback leather bound copy of Fairy Tales and Sketches by Hans Christian Andersen. Published in 1887 by George Bell & Sons, London. In a leather binding, with marbled endpapers, sides and page edges. Richly illustrated. With some wear to the leather.

Containing 64 tales. Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With spotting to the endpapers. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership.

In a dark red leather binding, with marbled papered sides. The spine has been re-backed with the original back-strip re-layed (see photos). Meaning the binding is extremely strong and tight. Rubbing to the corner pieces and leather spine - with the surface colour rubbed away completely in places. Original spine strip remains bright. Rubbing also to the papered boards on the sides, but again strong bright colours.
