1880s Andersen's Stories For the Household / Antique Illustrated Decorative Book

In very good condition here is a fantastic antique illustrated book of fairy tales. Andersen's Stories For the Household. Undated, but would have been published in the early 1880s by George Routledge & Sons, London. Containing around 150 stories - with eight colour plates and numerous line drawings (290 in total).

Just a few of the many tales included are: The Princess on the Pea; The Emperor's New Clothes; The Ugly Duckling; The Snow Queen; The Little Match Girl.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Outside edges have some tanning and spotting. All of the plates are present as called for and in top order, with one plate having just a couple of marks. Some slight creasing and a few folds to the bottom corners.

Pale-green cloth over boards have black and gold decoration to the front and spine, and gilt titles. Again in very good order, clean and smart. A few very faint marks - but minor. A striking and eye-catching edition.
