1879 Christmas Books Including A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens / Chapman & Hall, London / Lovely Antique Book / Richly Illustrated

A lovely antique version of Charles Dickens' five Christmas books. Published in 1879 by Chapman & Hall, London making this copy 145 years old. With sixteen black and white illustrations and in good condition.

The five Christmas Books are: A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket and the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man. 

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing or other markings of previous ownership. Cracks open at the gutter in a couple of places in the middle, but the binding remains extremely tight. Has occasional light scattered spotting inside. The closed outside edges have light spotting, with some toning along the top edge. 

Dark green cloth covered boards have black stamped decoration to the front and spine, and gilt titles. All in top order, clean and smart. With just some light rubbing to the cloth at the corners and spine ends, and a couple of small light marks to the boards. 

A very attractive, tight and square antique book.
