Balzac's Droll Stories Collected From the Abbeys of Touraine- 1950s Reprint of 1874 Edition

In very good condition, here is a 1950s reprint of the 1874 original Droll Stories by the French novelist and short story writer Honoré de Balzac. Published by William Reeves Bookseller Ltd., London. In wonderfully decorated red cloth boards and with 425 full-page and in-text designs by Gustave Doré. More details below.

The famous Contes Drolatiques collected from the Abbeys of Touraine are translated into English here, complete and unabridged.

Inside the pages are excellent, being clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or other markings of previous ownership.

Red cloth backed boards have dramatic black and gilt decoration to the front and spine. Again in top order. Just the very slightest of sunning to the spine, but the gilt remains shiny bright. Has a few faint indents on the back board - but minor. An extremely eye-catching book.

Your vintage copy of Droll Stories by Balzac will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message if desired.
