c1918 Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte / Scarce & Beautiful Leather Bound Edition / Collins Clear-Type / Illustrated / In Very Good Condition

In excellent condition, here is a beautiful antique, limp leather copy of Villette by Charlotte Bronte. Undated but would have been published in the 1910s by Collins Clear-Type Press, London. Indeed there is a small inked inscription dated 1918. With colourful illustrated frontispiece and title page, and three further colour plates by Buckland.

I have only come across this edition a couple of times, and that was in the pale blue boards binding. I have never come across this lovely green leather edition. At time of writing I also have Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre in the matching binding. I cannot find any other copies in this binding for sale anywhere.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With the above-mentioned inscription on the verso of the frontispiece, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All edges are shiny gilt (with a few very light scuffs).

In dark green limp leather with ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine. Again in top order - with just some light rubbing to the spine ends, and a small scuff at the foot of the spine. Overall a stunning copy.
