c1880 Grimm's Goblins and Wonder Tales - SCARCE / Frederick Warne London / 3 Colour Plates and Many More Line Drawings / Very Good Condition

In very good condition, I am delighted to have found this scarce copy of Grimm's Goblins and Wonder Tales. Undated, but would have been published around 1880 by Frederick Warne & Co., London. With three chromolithographic colour plates and many more in line. Condition in detail below.

Contains seventy tales including Rumpelstiltskin; Snow-White and the Red Rose; Snow White; Little Thumb and The Dancing Shoes amongst them.

Inside the pages are very good, being clean and tightly bound. With just the occasional spot, brown blemish and faint dark handling mark. Opens onto brown floral endpapers, with a cracked hinge at the front, but not effecting the binding of the text block which is good and strong. Has an inked inscription on the back of the front free endpaper dated 1900, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Has a few pages near the end with creases on the bottom edge - but minor. The top edge is gilt.

Green cloth covered boards have black and gilt stamped decoration to the front and spine, with a couple of super monochrome paste down illustrations. Again in good order. Has a couple of faint red marks on the front at the top near the titles. With a couple of creases and some brown marks to the cloth on the back. Rubbing to the cloth on the corner tips to reveal boards beneath, and a couple of nicks in the cloth on the spine ends. The gilt has remained sparkly bright and this is a super edition.
