1975 The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien - With Lovely Dust Wrapper

Here is a super UK hardback copy of JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit. Published in 1975 by George Allen & Unwin Ltd, London. Being a third edition, tenth impression. With the original bright dust wrapper.

Inside - opens and closes with map endpapers drawn by Tolkien. With a faint light brown stain mark to the bottom corner of the front paste down map (see photos). There is then a colour frontispiece and further colour and black line drawn illustrations all by Tolkien. Mild tanning to the outside edges and a couple of very faint, light brown blemishes to fore-edge - but minor. No inscriptions or markings of previous ownership.

Green boards have dark green Smaug decoration to the front, back and spine. In very good order having been well protected by the dust wrapper.

The unclipped dust jacket itself has rubbing along the joints. Edge wear nicks and chips to corners and spine ends, with some small areas of loss. Some splits on the joints (see photos). Faint brown mark on the rear inner flap. The jacket has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable archival plastic sleeve, and looks very presentable indeed.
