1966 Complete Novels of Jane Austen - Vintage 5 Volume Set in Slipcase

In excellent condition, here is a scarce vintage set of The Novels of Jane Austen. Published in 1966 by Collins, London. Contains all six of her finished novels (in five volumes). In the original slipcase box. It is rare to find all five matching books in this series and even more so to still be in the original slipcase. The books are in superb condition, they look to have hardly been out of the box - just a few faint marks to the cover of Pride and Prejudice. The slipcase box is also in top order, clean and bright with just a little light rubbing in places. Condition in detail below.

Contains: Sense and Sensibility; Pride and Prejudice; Mansfield Park, Emma plus Northanger Abbey which is bound with Persuasion.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or markings of previous ownership. The top closed edges are tinted blue. Sense and Sensibility still has the slip with advertising material from publication tucked inside so look to have been scarcely read. In addition to the novel each book has a short biography of the author at the beginning and a bibliography at the end. An unillustrated series.

Bound in blue Persianette faux leather with gilt titles and decoration to the spines. With just the above-mentioned faint marks to Pride and Prejudice (see photos). The gilt on the spines is sparkly as new and the blue un-faded.

The blue papered slipcase box is the best I've seen for this set. Just some slight rubbing to the extremities and a little chipping to the bottom corners - but all minor. Has the remains of the original label on the inside of the box. Otherwise clean, smart and the blue un-faded. It really does look to have defied time this boxed collection.
