Here is a first edition of the classic novel The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark. Published in 1961 by Macmillan and Co., London. With the original dust jacket. A few condition points to note, detailed below.

A critically acclaimed 1961 psychological novel by Scottish author Muriel Spark that subverts the traditional "inspirational teacher" trope. Set in 1930s Edinburgh, it follows an eccentric, charismatic, and deeply flawed schoolmistress who manipulates a select group of young students. The book is widely considered a masterpiece of 20th-century literature and was adapted into a famous 1969 film.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no inscriptions or markings of previous ownership. Spotting to endpapers and outside edges. Tanning along the closed top. Unillustrated.

Green boards have some staining to the bottom corners. On the outside cloth only, (not inside).

In the original dust wrapper. This is remained bright and colourful. It has edge wear along both edges. With some chips and a little loss to the corners and spine ends. Has a 2 cm split on the bottom joint on the back. The jacket has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable plastic sleeve (not shown in the photos), and looks very presentable indeed.
