1950 Hans Andersen's Fairy Stories - Vintage - Tarrant Illustrations

Here is a lovely antique edition of Hans Andersen's Fairy Stories. Undated, but research shows it would have been published by Ward, Lock and Co., Ltd of London around 1950. With 48 wonderful colour plates by Margaret Tarrant. Has some foxing to the pages being the main condition point to note (common with this edition), otherwise in good clean and smart condition.

Contents: The Little Swineherd or The Prince in Disguise; The Nightingale; The Steadfast Tin Soldier; The Emperor's New Clothes; The Real Princess; The Ugly Duckling; The Flying Trunk; Thumbelisa; The Little Mermaid; The Tinder Box; The Candles; The Snow Queen.

As mentioned above, the pages have some fairly heavy spotting to the endpapers and outside edges. With just lighter sporadic spotting scattered in the text. All of the colour plates are present as called for, and in very good condition. Also, has super colourful illustrated endpapers. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership.

Bound in dark grey cloth over boards with a pastedown illustration on the front, and black stamped decoration. In top order. Just a little rubbing to corners and spine ends, and the odd light scuff to the boards - but minor. A bright, smart and square copy.
