In the scarce dust jacket, here is a vintage hardback copy of The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Published in 1948 by John Murray, London. Condition in detail below.

The final collection of twelve short stories featuring the famous detective, first published in June 1927. It represents the official conclusion of the Sherlock Holmes canon, with Doyle using the volume's preface to bid a final farewell to his creation.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With spotting around the outside edges (see photos). Has a pencil name and date at the top of the front paste down, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. An unillustrated edition.

Red boards underneath the dust wrapper. The jacket has some wear. With loss to the top edge around the spine head. There is also a closed tear down from there across the titles. This has been professionally repaired on the reverse side. Has another small closed tear on the top edge on the back. Some chipping and tears to the corners. It has a few faint dark marks, and some tanning along the top at the back. The jacket has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable plastic sleeve, and looks very presentable indeed.
