1926 The Two Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling / Macmillan & Co., London / Richly Illustrated Vintage Edition Containing Both Jungle Books

Here is a leather bound vintage copy of The Two Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling. Being published on high quality thin paper of the sort used for bibles means that both books fit inside this one volume. Published in 1926 by Macmillan & Co., London. With a colour frontispiece illustration of Akela the Lone Wolf, and then many, many black and white drawings. With a school prize bookplate from the prestigious St Paul's School, London dated 1929. Also has the school crest on the front board and founder of the school, John Colet on the rear board. The contents of the book are lovely, with shiny gilt edged pages. This copy is nearly one hundred years old and so inevitably there is some wear to the leather, detailed below, but remains a super version of the stories.

Inside the book opens onto marbled endpapers where there is the above-mentioned school prize plate, but with no other writing or markings of previous ownership. The super colour frontispiece has the original tissue guard still in place.

In a black leather binding with black cloth sides. Has a fair amount of rubbing to the leather corner pieces and also some rubbing and chipping to the leather on the spine. With a little loss at the spine ends and cracking along the joints. So with wear to the leather but in no way effecting the binding which remains good and strong.
