1920s North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell / Collins Clear-Type Press, London / Leather Bound Antique Book / Illustrated / WITH SOME WEAR

Here is an antique leather bound copy of Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South. Undated but would have been published in the 1920s by Collins Clear-Type Press, London. With eight black and white illustrations. PLEASE NOTE there is wear to the leather with this copy. The contents remain in good condition and although there is some wear, it remains a lovely reading copy, far superior in my opinion to a modern mass-market edition.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing or inscriptions. All of the black and white plates are present. All edges are gilt.

Bound in dark red leather with gilt author name to the front and ornate gilt decoration to the spine. With a lot of rubbing to the leather around the edges and corners with some chipping away of the leather surface to reveal boards beneath in places (see close-up photo). There is also some loss to the leather at the spine ends. Otherwise the lovely soft leather just has the odd scuff, and feels lovely and soft to hold in the hand when reading.
