1914 Aesop's Fables - Illustrated Antique Book

Here is a lovely antique copy of Aesop's Fables. In a gorgeous binding, and with colour and line illustrations by Harrison Weir. Undated, but research shows it would have been published around 1914 by Ward, Lock & Co., London. More details below.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Has a small inked-name to the top of the verso of the front free endpaper, but no other inscriptions or markings of previous ownership. Spotting to endpapers, edges and then scattered through the text. Eight colour plates plus numerous illustrations in line. The colour frontispiece still has the original tissue-guard in place. This has some light spotting, and is loose at the top but firmly attached at the bottom. The book has developed a mild lean.

Pale olive-green cloth backed boards have wonderful decoration to the front and spine, with shiny, bright gilt. In top order. A little rubbing to the corner tips, spine ends - and a small faded area on the back board at the bottom edge next to the spine.

Your antique copy of Aesop's Fables will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
