1909 Antique Essex Book: 75 Colour Plates, Decorative Binding

In very good condition, here is a lovely antique copy of Essex - Painted by Burleigh Bruhl and Described by Hope Moncrieff. Published in 1909 by Adam & Charles Black, London. This is a first in this edition. With 75 super colour plates, a folding-map and lovely decorative boards.

Contents: Rural, Urban and Suburban; Epping Forest; The Roding Valley; The Roman Road; The Thames-Side; Chelmsford and Colchester; The Sea Coast; Cross Routes; The Essex Highlands; The Stour Edge.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Inked inscription from 1912 on the front free endpaper, but no other markings of previous ownership. All 75 colour plates are present as called for, with their captioned tissue-guards. The folding-map is still present and in good condition.

Purple-blue cloth over boards have red and yellow decoration and gilt titles. Also in good order, clean and bright. Mild rubbing to the corners and spine ends. A few light scuffs to the boards - but minor. The gilt titles are bright, and this is a very attractive book.
