1905 Jane Austen and Her Times by GE Mitton - Illustrated Antique Biography

Here is an antique, first edition copy of Jane Austen and Her times by GE Mitton. Published in 1905 by Methuen & Co., London. With twenty-one black and white illustrations. With some wear - condition in detail below.

Inside opens with a charming Ex Libris bookplate. Also a small inked inscription opposite on the front free endpaper. No other writing or markings of previous ownership. Has spotting throughout the text. Also to outside page edges. All of the black and white plates are present as called for. One plate has some crease folds to the bottom corner. Pages are tightly bound with no cracked hinges.

Blue cloth over boards have gilt titles to the front and spine. With some rubbing to remove the blue colour in areas on the front, plus some fading in a couple of areas on the back (see photos). Rubbing also to corner tips and spine ends. Has a few small splits to the cloth on the head and tail of the spine. Gilt titles remain bright.
