1904 The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins - Illustrated Antique Book

A well-made impressive edition of Wilkie Collins' The Woman in White. Published in 1904 by James Nisbet & Co, Limited of London, this is a fairly large format antique edition. Has four black and white illustrated plates. More details below.

Inside the pages are good, being clean and tightly bound, with mild tanning. Has a prize bookplate from 1904 on the front paste down, and a name bookplate on the opposite front free endpaper. There is a cracked hinge at the beginning - giving the front board a wobble, but in no way effecting the binding of the text block, which is good and strong. Small tear across one bottom corner - nowhere near the text. Gilt edged on all sides.

Bound in striking olive-green cloth backed boards with beautiful ornate stamped decoration to the front, and gilt decoration to the spine. Has a light stain to the front near the fore-edge (see close-up photo), and a very faint partial ring mark over the titles (but this is hard to spot and you can only really see it by holding the book right up to the light). One thin faint dark line to the top front left. Slight rubbing to corners and spine ends. Otherwise the green colouring remains strong and the gilt shiny bright.
