In good condition here is a beautiful copy of Familiar London, Painted by Rose Barton. Being an Edition de Luxe, signed by the artist and numbered 283 of 300. With 61 colour plates and in gorgeous decorative, Art Nouveau red rose boards. This is a large book - see dimensions below.

Rose Barton was an Anglo-Irish artist known for her beautiful watercolour paintings, particularly of landscapes, street scenes, and townscapes in Britain and Ireland.

Familiar London showcases her artistic perspective on Edwardian London. Barton was fascinated by the atmospheric effects of London’s famous fog and often painted the same views under different weather conditions. Her works captured the essence of city life, including scenes of Hyde Park, Charing Cross Bridge, and Westminster Abbey. Many of her paintings were owned by notable collectors, including the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Inside this copy, the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With some tanning and occasional spotting to the tissue guards. Has an inked inscription to the front paste down, dated 1908. You can just about see where some pencil has been erased on the opposite front free endpaper - but minor. The top closed edge is gilt. All 61 colour plates are present as called for, and each has their captioned tissue guard in place.

Cream cloth covered boards have beautiful decoration to the front and spine. With rubbing to the corners to reveal boards beneath. With rubbing also and some small splits to the cloth at the spine ends, and a slightly larger split at the top spine joint with the front board. The decoration on the front and spine remains lovely and bright, with some mild tanning to the spine. The rear board has a few light marks, but again minor.

Your antique copy of Familiar London will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to include a gift card with a message in the parcel.
