1903 Christmas Books by Charles Dickens: Fireside Edition, Illustrated

In very good condition, here is a charming antique edition of Charles Dickens' five Christmas Books comprising; A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket on the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man. Known as The Fireside Edition and published by Chapman & Hall Ltd, London in the early 1900s. With 65 superb illustrations.

The contents are clean and tightly bound. The only real condition point to note with this copy is on the front free endpaper where a name has been partially erased. It looks as if whoever was erasing stopped as they had made a small hole in the page (see close-up photos). Has the original pencil price in the top corner of the same page but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Has one folded/creased corner. Packed full of black line drawn illustrations, with some superb, detailed reproductions to the first edition title pages.

Green/blue cloth covered boards are an attractive colour. Has an ornate black stamped pattern and gilt titles to the spine. With a black stamped fireside illustration and titles on the front board and CD, monogram of Dickens' initials to the rear. In top order, with just some very faint rubbing to the corners and spine ends.
