In good condition, here is a lovely antique copy of Half Hours in the Far East - Among the People and Wonders of India. Published in 1897 by James Nisbet & Co., London. Richly illustrated throughout in black and white.
The Half-Hour Library of Travel, Nature and Science is referred to at the top of the title page as being for Young Readers, but the books are filled with information and today we would deem the books equally suited for adult readers.
Contents: Bombay; Poona; Colgaum and Caves of Karli; Malabar Coast; Madras; Calcutta; Benares; Allahabad and Cawnpore; Lucknow; Agra; Delhi; Among the Himalayas.
Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Opens onto floral endpapers with a couple of inscriptions, and a couple more on the next page (see final two photos). Has sporadic scattered spotting in the text, spotting and tanning to the closed outside edges, and one dark mark on the closed bottom edge. Cracks open at the hinge in one place in the middle of the book, but not effecting the binding of the text block which is very good and strong.
Navy blue cloth covered boards have attractive black and gilt decoration to the front and spine. Has some rubbing to the cloth on the corner tips and spine ends. With a few faint marks to the boards but overall with bright and shiny gilt and is an attractive copy.
