A beautiful, antique edition of Familiar Wild Flowers by F Edward Hulme. With forty bright colour plate illustrations, and in a gorgeous binding with hand-painted flowers on the front board. Published in 1892 by Cassell & Co., London. In excellent condition - more details below.

Hulme produced five series of his Familiar Wild Flowers over the years and this is a fourth series collection with forty flowers described in detail, each with an ornate decorative initial and footer and its own colour plate. Each volume stands on their own individually.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. No writing or markings of previous ownership. All of the beautiful colour plates are also in excellent condition. Each has their tissue-guard in place. The tissues are also clean and bright. Shiny gilt on all edges.

In a striking green and gold binding with hand-painted flowers on the front board. The boards are a work of art in themselves, and with each copy being hand-painted they are all unique. With gilt and black border on the front and spine. Has a couple of light marks to the front. Slight rubbing to the cloth on the spine ends. With a couple of small nicks to the cloth at the head of the spine. The decoration and gilt remain sparkly bright and this is an extremely eye-catching book.
