1890s Ben-Hur A Tale of the Time of Our Lord by Lew Wallace / James Nisbet & Co. Ltd, London / Charming Antique Hardback / Illustrated

Here is a lovely antique copy of Ben-Hur A Tale of the Christ by Lew Wallace. Undated but research shows it would have been published in the early 1900s by James Nisbet & Co., Ltd, London. With four black and white illustrations and with decorative chapter headers and footers. 

Contents: Inside the pages have tanned but are otherwise clean and tightly bound. Has a partially cracked hinge at the beginning. With the odd nicked edge and folded corner. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership. All edges are gilt.

Boards: In attractive olive-green cloth covered boards with floral decoration to the front and spine. Has a light mark on the front in the patterned section. The green on the back has faded a little and has the odd faint light mark. With a little rubbing to the corners and spine ends. The gilt on the spine has rubbed a little but still looks very attractive.
